Cholinergic Receptor Nicotinic Alpha 3, also known as CHRNA3 is part ofthe nicotinic acetylcholine receptor family. Proteins of this family formpentameric complexes comprised of both alpha & beta subunits. Furthermore,CHRNA3 is ligand-gated ions channel which prticipates in neurotransmission.CHRNA3 has been associated with an increased risk of smoking initiation as wellas an increased susceptibility to lung cancer.
