CYP2E1, also known as Cytochrome P450 2E1 belongs to the cytochrome P450 mixed-function oxidasesystem which is involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics in the body. While CYP2E1is implicated in the oxidative metabolism of small range substrates, commonlysmall polar molecules, there are many significant drug interactions which are mediatedby CYP2E1.
