DiscoidinDomain Receptor Tyrosine Kinase 2 (DDR2) which is mostly expressed inmesenchymal cells is a part of the discoidin-like domain containing subfamilyof receptor tyrosine kinases. DDR2 whose ligand is fibrillar collagen ratherthan a growth factor-like peptide is unique among RTKs. DDR2 regulates celldifferentiation, remodeling of the extracellular matrix, cell migration andcell proliferation. DDR2 is also essentialfor normal bone development.
