Matrix metalloproteinase-14 (MMP14), is a membrane-anchored zinc-binding endopeptidase which is expressed at the leading edge of differentinvasive carcinomas and also promotes tumor cell invasion through degradationof the extracellular matrix. MMP14 takesa vital part in extracellular matrix, ECM, remodeling by having the capabilityto degrade type I collagen, activate pro-MMP-2 and process cell adhesionmolecules for instance CD44 and integrin alpha V. MMP14 is a key enzyme in manyphysiological as well as pathological processes for example angiogenesis &tumor invasion.
